  1. There's another Brewers' Blackbird on the walkway in the Golden Gateway center (two, three blocks East of Swoops's hunting ground) which is also exhibiting similar behavior (though not quite as aggressive). As pedestrians walk along the walkway this bird loops in and out, hovering over their heads and then retreating back to his nook in the trees overlooking the Embarcadero. I'm guessing this bird is also a proud papa and is protecting some young or a female in the shrubberty.

  2. It's been attacking for a while right outside the Starbucks at the Safeway on Market. It sits right in the bushes, watches, waits and then attacks.

  3. I worked on Battery near Front Street over ten years ago... There was a black bird then that used to attack heads of people. I died laughing when it moved around a wig on a co-worker.

  4. I has been happening at Safeway for a while. I was double-hit in 2004 there, it's common grackle/blackbird behavior and even goes to their cousins the mockingbirds. Here in Austin TX the mockingbirds used to chase my wife down the street when she rode her bike past this one nest, multiple swoops!
