Swoops attacked two seagulls during the course of the morning that flew near his nesting tree. Bystanders were in disbelief. I am without words. Swoops wins for parent of the year.
These seagulls spell bad, bad news for Swoops' babies. They will kill and eat them if they see an opportunity. They are being attracted by all of the dumb "fans" that throw food out for Swoops and the pigeons. Poor bird must be more stressed than ever. How sad that all of this publicity may ultimately doom the whole little family.
Swoops doesn't have time to go elsewhere for sustenance. If you're so concerned then go chase the seagulls yourself. Don't stop feeding him! he needs that food to keep his strength up. That blackbird would not be eating if he wasn't hungry.
I agree - he definitely needs his strength! Maybe smaller doses of food, so that the hoards of other birds (especially seagulls) will stay away. Although, the family is in a perfect location for food and water. I always see him bathing and drinking at 101's little water fountain :-) **I do worry about the stress level he's experiencing with the overtime he's putting in protecting his Fam!(his poor little heart).

ReplyDeleteI concur. I think all this popularity is going to be the downfall to Swoops and his brood. So sad.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there's a way to get people to stop feeding him.
